Clutch Pedal Goes To Floor Won T Return

What To Do If Clutch Pedal Goes All The Way To The Floor

During a clutch pedal inspection, a mechanic will identify the reason your pedal is going all the way to the floor by checking your clutch system and all of its connections as well as fluid levels. In manual transmission vehicles, there are two types of clutch systems: cable and hydraulic. Pressing the pedal pressurizes fluid in the hydraulic system, allowing you to shift gears. If your clutch pedal is touching the ground and you cannot shift gears, you will likely need a clutch pedal inspection. Problems with your clutch pedal can be caused by a few common issues:

Broken clutch cable: The older your car, the more to blame a broken clutch cable for your clutch pedal problems. Connecting Rod Missing: A clutch actuated system is connected to a clutch fork and release bearing, connected by a small rod. If the stem is missing, the cable cannot attach to the fork, causing your pedal to go to the ground. Low fluid level: In a hydraulic clutch, you may have a low fluid level in the master or slave cylinder. Failing clutch master cylinder: If the internal seals are leaking fluid, the master cylinder will fail. It could possibly work on the clutch pedal, or it could be visible on the firewall or the back of the engine. If you are unable to shift gears or if your clutch pedal hits the ground, you should immediately have the clutch pedal inspected.

Clutch Pedal Wont Return

Look inside the floor where the pedal push rod goes to the back of the master cylinder and see if there is a fluid leak. Look at the slave cylinder and pull the dust cover back and see if it is wet and if there is buildup and moisture around the slave itself [bad slave cylinder]

4. Check the condition of the flexible hose itself, the outer casing will likely be cracked, but check for tears, moisture, leaks, especially around the ends where it bolts to the cylinder hard or slave. If you can find someone to help you, open the hood, remove the reservoir cap from the master cylinder, and have an assistant pump the clutch several times, then hold it down. Look closely at the slave cylinder to see if it stays still in the extended position, if it begins to slowly return while the pedal is still depressed, and there does not appear to be any leakage from the slave cylinder and the boot is dry and clean. Repeat the pedal pump and hold and this time look at the master cylinder reservoir, look at the fluid level and see if while the pedal is held down to see if the fluid comes back on its own, if so, c This is a sign of an internal leak in the master. When I did my hydraulics I went ahead and replaced the master and slave, and picked up a stainless braided clutch line from Mazdatrix for about $25-30 shipped and IMO was worth it.

I suspect something is broken or moving on you that shouldn't be and you can't see it. You must isolate each part and repair if necessary. The clutch cover spring (pressure plate) load should be enough to override the pedal on the center spring to at least push the pedal off the ground and not just stay fully depressed. I remember someone had mismatched components where the bearing was too small in diameter or the fingers were too short. So you have a new 3-finger B&B type (or similar) like this? I suspect something is broken or moving on you that shouldn't be and you can't see it. You must isolate each part and repair if necessary. The clutch cover spring load (pressure plate) should be enough to overtake the pedal on the center spring to at least get the pedal off the ground and not just stay all the way down.... Check fit release the bearing when it comes into contact with the fingers. I remember someone had mismatched components where the bearing was too small in diameter or the fingers were too short. I'm waiting for my friend who will be next week to weld it and it will be much stronger than the 2 small welds he left Michigan with. See attachment 1715091747 I am waiting for my friend who will be next week to weld it and it will be much stronger than the 2 small welds he left Michigan with.
